Postdoc or Senior Assistant position in Experimental Mineral Physics

The Experimental Mineral Physics (EMP) group in the Institute of Geochemistry and Petrology, ETH Zurich, Switzerland (led by Professor Motohiko Murakami) seeks researchers to join our vigorous research program in the ultrahigh-pressure experimental mineral physics to explore the internal structure, mineralogy and evolution of the Earth and the other planets.

Postdoc or Senior Assistant position in Experimental Mineral Physics

The successful candidate is expected to perform high-pressure and high-temperature experimental research in collaboration with group members, to teach, and to undertake infrastructural tasks. This includes raising funding and supervising PhD students, teaching MSc and BSc courses (in English) and supervising MSc and BSc projects. A starting date in early to mid 2018 is negotiable and the contract is for 2 years renewable up to a total of 6 years. An attractive salary will be in accordance with the regulations of ETH Zurich.

Applicants will normally have at least 1~2 years postdoctoral experience (although this can be waived in exceptional cases) and a field of expertise that may be anything in the area of high-pressure mineral physics related to the research topics such as mineralogy, chemistry, or elasticity of deep Earth's interior. High-pressure experimental skills using laser-heated diamond anvil cell apparatus including the ability to develop the optical, spectroscopic, or infrared laser heating system are an advantage. The working language of the group is English.

We look forward to receiving your online application including a CV, publication list, statement of research interests and the names and contact information of at least two references until 30 March 2018. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal.
