Postdoctoral position for two years in igneous petrology and geochemistry
The GeoZentrum Nordbayern seeks applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in research in the fields of igneous petrology and geochemistry. The successful applicant is expected to work in a DFG-funded project on the magmatic evolution of island arcs in close cooperation with other members of the group. This postdoctoral position can be filled on February 1st 2020 for two years according to the German civil service remuneration system TV-L E13.
The minimum qualification required is a doctoral degree in igneous petrology and an interest in analytical geochemistry. Experience in major and trace element analysis (e.g. quadrupole ICP-MS, electron microprobe) and radiogenic isotope (Sr, Nd, Hf, Pb) analysis on silicate rocks will be essential. Initiative, a strong publication record, and good interpersonal skills are expected.
The GeoZentrum has strong research groups in both high- and low-temperature geochemistry. Facilities include XRF, XRD, electron microprobe, LA quadrupole ICP-MS, ICP-MS, MC ICP-MS, TIMS, and stable isotope mass spectrometers as well as clean labs for sample preparation.
The University of Erlangen-Nürnberg intends to increase the number of women in research and teaching positions and, therefore, strongly encourages female researchers to apply. Disabled applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualification.
Applicants should submit a CV, a list of publications, and a brief description of their research (1-2 pages). Applicants should also provide the telephone numbers and email addresses of two referees. The deadline for receipt of all application materials is October 28th, 2019.
