![]() Academic position on TectonicsThe Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM, http://ingenieria.uchile.cl/) at the University of Chile is the Chilean leading institution in Engineering and Earth Sciences, performing world-class research and offering undergraduate and graduate programs. The Faculty holds more than a dozen academic departments, including Geology (www.geologia.uchile.cl), Geophysics (www.dgf.uchile.cl) and Civil Engineering (www.ingcivil.uchile.cl). The FCFM has recently created an inter-departmental, inter-disciplinary program on Seismotectonics and Seismic Hazard. Within this program the Department of Geology, FCFM, is seeking candidates for one permanent academic position on Tectonics, focused on the generation and impact of earthquakes and seismic hazard. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out innovative, independently funded research at an international level in topics related to Andean Tectonics and the seismic cycle, in close collaboration with researchers from the Geology, Geophysics and Civil Engineering Departments. In addition, candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and supervise/examine undergraduate, M.Sc. and Ph.D students. Spanish proficiency is desirable. Teaching experience is not a requisite but it will be considered as a plus.
