Structural Geology and Tectonics

The Earth Science Department invites applications for a fixed-term position in Structural Geology and Tectonics (E13 at the German Salary Scale). Initial appointment, starting November 1st, 2013, will be for three years. Candidates will have a doctor's degree (Ph.D.) in Earth Science at the time of appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to initiate his/her own program of research supported by competitive, third-party funding programs. A strong background in field-based geological research and experience in experimental studies of rock deformation are expected. Expertise in textural (EBSD) and/or 3D geometrical analysis (CT) of rocks is desired. Teaching responsibilities include 2 hours of lecturing per week and supervising BSc., MSc. and Ph.D. students in the field and laboratory. In cases of equal qualification, handicapped candidates will be preferred.
