PhD position in Structural Geology


The Geoscience department at the Goethe-University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is looking for a PhD student for a three year project titled: "the Evolution of polymineralic upper mantle shear zones" with a starting date of the 1st of March, 2018.

The PhD student will combine field work with microstructural and chemical analysis in order to gain more insight into the processes that are important for upper mantle shear zone formation and evolution.

The successful candidate has an MSc degree in geosciences or geology, with experience in microstructural analysis and field work. Interest in deformation processes is essential. Practical experience with the SEM and EPMA is an advantage.

The salary of the position is 75% of the public service pay grade E13 TV-G-U.
