The Goethe University Frankfurt am Main seeks to fill the following position in the Institute for Geosciences, Fachbereich 11 Geowissenschaften/ Geographie beginning October 1st, 2018:
Professorship (W2 tenure track) in Geobiology
The Professorship is in the field of Geobiology with an emphasis on organic geochemistry and is intended to strengthen the process-oriented and analytical profile of the faculty of Geosciences/Geography at the Goethe-University Frankfurt. The ideal candidate is an interdisciplinary scientist who uses quantitative laboratory and field methods for reconstructing paleoenvironments and fundamental biogeochemical processes in Earth history.
The successful candidate will establish and maintain an externally-funded research program that includes national and international collaboration. The applicant must include a concept of how they plan to integrate their research profile within the Faculty of Geosciences/Geography, as well as with research activities at the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (http://www.senckenberg.de) and other partner institutions in the Rhine-Main region. It is also expected that the successful candidate will become actively involved in the existing Bachelor and Master Geoscience programs by offering introductory and advanced courses. As part of the Goethe-University's policy to attract international students, undergraduate and graduate courses may be given in English.
The tenure track professorship (W2/W3) is initially for six years, but contingent upon a positive evaluation, can become a permanent position at the "W3" level of the German university scale in accordance with § 64 "Hessisches Hochschulgesetz". Requirements for the position are a Ph.D. and additional demonstrated scientific achievements in the fields of geosciences and biosciences.
