Professorship (W2, tenure track) in Geodynamic Modelling
The professorship represents the field of geophysics with a focus on geodynamic modelling within the Department of Geosciences / Geography of the Goethe University. The ideal candidate would be an interdisciplinary scientist who contributes to the deep physical understanding of fundamental geodynamic processes in the Earth's interior and their interactions with near-surface processes and material cycles by means of computer-aided modelling.
Applicants must include a concept of how they plan to integrate their research profile within the Faculty of Geosciences / Geography, as well as with partner institutions in the Rhine-Main region. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an externally-funded research program that includes national and international collaboration.
It is also expected that the successful candidate will become actively involved in the existing Bachelor and Master of Geoscience (Geophysics) programs by offering introductory and advanced courses. As part of Goethe University’s policy to attract international students, undergraduate and graduate courses may be given in English.
The initial tenure track appointment as professor (civil servant or public employee) is for six years (§ 64 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)). Upon positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent position at a higher level (W3). Requirements for the position are a Ph.D. and additional demonstrated scientific achievements in the field of geophysics.
The designated salary for the position is based on the German university pay scale or equivalent.
