The Earth Science Institute (section Geophysics) at J.W. Goethe University Frankfurt invites applications for a fully funded Ph.D. student position in computational geodynamics. The successful candidate will study the transport of geofluids (water, melt) at subduction zone settings.

This project involves the application of two-phase flow theory and use of numerical modelling to better constrain subduction zone data (earthquakes, magma composition, etc.). Supervisors will be Dr. Guillaume Richard and Prof. Harro Schmeling, in collaboration with Dr. H. Iwamori (University of Tokyo, Japan). Overseas collaboration implies stays in Tokyo. Applicants should be highly motivated, creative and have a master degree (or equivalent) in Earth sciences, Physical/Mathematical sciences or Computer sciences. Experience in scientific programming would be a plus.
