Full-time professorship in marine geology and geophysics



The Faculty of Sciences of the Universiteit Gent (Belgium) has a vacancy for a full-time professorship in marine geology and geophysics. Candidates should have at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience in conducting experimental marine geological and geophysical research at sea on one or both of the following topics: i) marine sedimentary processes, ii) geophysical characterization of sedimentary sequences.

The successful candidate is expected to join the research unit "Renard Centre of Marine Geology" (http://www.rcmg.ugent.be) and to collaborate with the other research units in the Department.

Responsibilities include teaching on the bachelor and master levels, as well as building up and leading a vigorous, internationally recognized research program, which is capable of attracting external funding.

Evaluation will be based on the candidate's publication record, her/his ability to communicate well, international mobility, his/her supervisory skills, and the ability and desire to work both collaboratively and independently.

Appointment is on the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. The Universiteit Gent is an equal opportunity employer.
