Scientist position(m/f)
Active Tectonics/physical simulation.

The geodynamics group at the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam seeks an individual with experience in active tectonics and analogue modelling.

A PhD in geology, geophysics or related fields is required. The successful candidate will participate in an integrated field and laboratory-based program and will contribute to the coordination of a modelling-oriented research program. In addition to experience in investigation of active deformation at plate boundary zones and analogue modelling, we especially welcome a candidate with expertise in modern quantitative methods in several of the following research fields: tectonic geomorphology and paleoseismology, seismotectonics, instrumental methods of deformation analysis. The applicant should have experience in field work and quantitative studies. The successful candidate should have a record of external funding and publications and is encouraged to contribute to existing projects and initiate own projects within our program. GFZ offers a unique opportunity to integrate research with a range of research groups and state of the art facilities. Current research of the geodynamics group focuses on interdisciplinary system analysis of plate boundary zones with particular emphasis on the interaction of tectonic mass flux, earthquake deformation processes, and seismotectonics at GFZ's Earth System Observatories.

Duration: 3 years (with an option for extension)
