The Georg-August-University, Göttingen seeks a

Junior Lecturer (A13 BBesO)


to begin at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to an initial three years with the possibility of a further three year extension in light of a successful evaluation.

The successful candidate will work on numerical modeling of Earth's upper crustal thermal field and its interaction with deformation and fluid migration on geological timescales, with an emphasis on strongly heterogeneous media in sedimentary basins. The successful candidate should be capable of creating their own modeling software and solutions as well as modifying or expanding existing tools. Some detailed knowledge of the regional geology of Europe / Western Central Europe would also be an advantage. Close cooperation with the geodynamic computing group will be expected, as well as other groups of the Geowissenschaftliches Zentrum Göttingen (GZG), in particular hydrogeology, sedimentology and thermochronology. Research links to a large range of topics are available as a result (e.g. syn-orogenic sedimentary basin evolution and georeservoirs.

Teaching duties will include courses at both Bachelors (Geological Sciences) and Masters (Geological Sciences, as well as Hydrogeology and Environmental Geoscience) levels, totalling 4 teaching contact hours per semester week.

Qualifications at the time of application are given by § 31, para. 3 of the laws governing the universities of Niedersachsen. Candidates must have completed their normal university studies, doctoral thesis, and possibly have post doctoral research experience in numerical modeling and basin dynamics.
