The Department of Structural Geology and Geodynamics at the Geoscience Center, Georg-August-University, Göttingen seeks a

Junior lecturer (all genders welcome)
(optionally hired on E13 TV-L or A 13 NBesO)

to begin at the earliest possible date. The employment is 100 % of the regular weekly working hours (currently 39.80 hours/week for TV-L and 40 hours/week for A 13 NbesO). The position is initially limited to a period of 3 years. It can be extended for another 3 years according to WissZeitVG (TV-L) and § 31 NHG A 13 NbesO. You will conduct research in a field of structural geology and/or geodynamics. Possible topics and methods from the full range of structural geology that will strengthen and complement the profile of our department include tectonic geomorphology, environmental tectonics, reservoir tectonics, geological 3D modelling, and numerical modelling of geological processes. Thematical overlap exists in the structural geology department (e.g., 2D and 3D structure modelling, numerical geodynamic modelling) and in the faculty of geoscience and geography (e.g., departments of Computational Geoscience, Petrology, Physical Geography). Some knowledge of the regional geology of Europe would be an asset.

Teaching duties of 4 contact hours per week during semester times will include courses at both Bachelors (curriculum Geowissenschaften) and Masters (curriculum Geoscience) levels. Basic experience in teaching is therefore an advantage. We encourage the development of your own courses as well as the supervision of thesis projects. You should therefore enjoy working with students and have good communication skills. You are expected to develop, acquire and run your own, third party-funded research projects.

The job requirements are regulated by §31 para. 3 of the laws governing universities in Lower Saxony (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz). We seek candidates qualified to PhD level and with research experience in structural geology or geodynamics. A cooperative and committed way of working are required.

The University of Göttingen is an equal opportunities employer and places particular emphasis on fostering career opportunities for women. Qualified women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply in fields in which they are underrepresented. The University has committed itself to being a family-friendly institution and supports its employees in balancing work and family life. The mission of the University is to employ a greater number of severely disabled persons. Applications from severely disabled persons with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.
