At the Georg-August-University Goettingen 3 junior professorships starting October 1st, 2010, are announced. These will support the Bachelor degree course "Ecosystem Management" of the faculties of Agriculture, Forestry and Forest Ecology and Geoscience and Geography. The candidates will participate in the development of interdisciplinary research projects and will have to teach within the "Ecosystem Management" curriculum. Financial support is provided by the "Hochschulpakt 2020".
- Junior Professorship in Geoinformatics and Landscape Modelling (W1) - Faculty for Geosciences and Geography: Research fields shall cover applied topics of changes of land use and resource management. A focus on statistical modeling of land surface patterns with GIS-methods for modeling landscape changes is desired. The impacts of changing land use and climate change on ecosystems shall be central parts of the research. A good knowledge of modeling landscape patterns and of applying geo-data in GIS is required.
- Junior Professorship in Soil Hydrology (W1) - Faculty for Agriculture
The application-oriented study of land use and resource management in rural ecosystems shall be the main research topic. The methods used shall include soil-water and soil-type identification in the field from the lysimeter to the regional scale.
- Junior Professorship in Wildlife Management (W1 tenure track to W2) - Faculty for Forestry and Forest Ecology: The candidate's research fields should cover modern aspects of wildlife biology and sustainable wildlife management. The impact of changes in land use and climate change on wildlife populations on national and international scale should be integral part of the candidate's research. Emphasis should be on spatial and temporal analyses of distribution patterns of wildlife species, as well as on the links of these distribution patterns to ecological processes, to conservation policy and management and to epidemiological research questions. In case of getting tenured, teaching obligations will extend to courses in wildlife biology and wildlife management in existing and new curricula of the Faculty of Forestry and Forest Ecology (BSc and MSc, PhD curricula).

The position will be for 3 years and will be extended for another 3 years after a positive evaluation. The tenure track position can be changed in a permanent position according W 2 BBesO after 6 years and a positive evaluation.
The placement prerequisites for a junior professorship appointment are given by § 30 NHG, (Lower Saxony Higher Education Framework Act) dated 26.02.2007 (Nds. GVB1. 5/2007, p. 69). For tenure track positions candidates with an affiliation to Goettingen need to proof at least 2 years of post-doc work outside of the University of Goettingen. Details will be provided upon request.
