Database Coordinator, Minerals/GIS (PO4)

The Geological Survey of SA (GSSA) is a branch of the Resources and Energy Group of the Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE). DMITRE is South Australia's economic development agency responsible for investment attraction management and regulation of South Australia's mineral and energy sectors.

The Geological Survey of South Australia (GSSA) provides a comprehensive information and knowledge framework on the State's geoscience and resources through a strategic science based approach within a collaborative and professional work environment. The implementation of exploration initiatives of PACE2020 is a key role of the GSSA.

The Database Co-ordinator is a key member of the Geoscientific Information Management Group of the GSSA and is responsible for leading the Databases Team. The role is critical to driving the development and implementation of strategic directions for corporate geoscientific data collection and management. The successful candidate will also be responsible for data integrity, growth and effective use of the database, support staff in their engagement and champion continuous database and working systems improvement.

The Database Co-ordinator will provide team and strategic leadership in the delivery of SA _Geodata database management and activities. Responsibilities will include planning and coordinating team activities and resources to meet project load and capacity as well as liaising and coordinating with key stakeholders to achieve quality data management outcomes.

To succeed in this role candidates must possess current team leadership/team management experience, as well as experience in project reporting and controls management as well as overall project delivery within a database management environment. Experience within the resources industry is highly desirable.

Candidates will also be required to possess an extensive professional knowledge of database architecture, design and development, in conjunction with a high level understanding of complex relational data management models and geographical information systems (GIS) applications. Experience in working in a technical environment with specialist professional staff is a considerable advantage, as is the capacity to interpret a wide variety of scientific datasets.
