The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK)


The Geological Survey of Finland is seeking a geologist for a permanent position at the Ore and Industrial Minerals unit. The location will be Espoo, Kuopio or Rovaniemi.

You will be responsible for contributing to the planning and implementation of bedrock raw material studies with other experts in Finland and internationally. You will also take part in preparing and implementing paid assignments and co-financed studies as well as international duties. We expect you to have an advanced academic degree in geology suitable for the post. Fluent oral and written English skills are essential for the post. Finnish and other language skills are an advantage. We appreciate hands-on expertise and experience acquired through international jobs and we expect you to be ready to travel internationally if required. Experience of ore-geological and structural mapping of the bedrock and 3D modelling is an advantage. As for program skills, command of Surpac, Leapfrog, ArcGis and QGIS is an advantage. The job requires cooperation skills, good interaction skills and high work motivation.

The salary will be determined by requirement class VL 8-9 and by the competence of the person appointed to the post. The overall salary upon start of employment is approximately EUR 3,360 - 4,060 per month.
