Senior Scientist for Metamorphic Geology

The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is looking for a senior scientist for the Mineral Economy Solutions unit in Espoo, Kuopio or Rovaniemi-office. You will focus on metamorphic geology research in domestic and international projects with emphasis on Precambrian Geology and metallogeny. Your assignment will include research work, field work, funding application preparation, project management and working with customers in consulting assignments. You will be a part of an international research team and you are ready to travel in our international activities.

What we expect

• A PhD degree in the field of geosciences
• Strong field and theoretical backgrounds in metamorphic geology
• Sound knowledge of the problems of Precambrian geology
• A proven scientific publication track record
• Fluent spoken and written English skills, and readiness to travel in our international projects
• Good co-operation, interaction, and communication skills
• Well-established international networks

What we appreciate

• Experience in structural geology, applied ore geology and metallogenic processes
• Experience in mineralogy, petrology and geochronology using different analytical methods
• Experience in GIS, 2D and 3D numerical modelling, and geochemical and statistical software
• Experience in project management
• Experience in funding applications and knowledge of different research funding instruments

Information about pay

The total salary at the beginning of employment will be approximately EUR 3 930 - 4 730 per month.
