Researcher in computational electromagnetic geophysics

GTK is looking for a researcher to join our bedrock and mineral mapping team within GTK's Geophysical Solutions unit. You will be a part of the electromagnetic geophysics research group and you will be based in Espoo, Kuopio or Rovaniemi in Finland. Your research will focus on the development of novel computational methods for geophysical modelling and inversion of predominantly electromagnetic data but may also involve potential field data. You are expected to publish your research in reputable international academic journals and your participation in applications for research funding will be appreciated.

What we expect

  • You have a PhD in Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • You have experience in the development of computational scientific codes and a good understanding of the theory of numerical methods
  • You have a deep understanding of the theory of electromagnetic geophysics
  • You have excellent academic credentials in relevant topics
  • You are ready, able, and willing to travel and to do field work
  • You have excellent English communication and writing skills

You have initiative and work independently, but you are also a good team worker. You are passionate about learning new things. You have a structured and organised working style and have good prioritisation skills. We expect you to be innovative and development oriented.

Information about pay

Depending on the relevant experience of the selected applicant, the total salary at the beginning of the employment will be approximately EUR 4003 - 4266.

The position is fixed term. The starting date is as early as possible but not before 1.2.2022. The term is for three years.
