Centenary Recruitment Plan
Founded in 1911, The University of Hong Kong is committed to the highest international standards of excellence in teaching and research, and has been at the international forefront of academic scholarship for many years. The purpose of this Centenary Recruitment Plan is to enhance our research competitiveness and to facilitate the introduction and delivery of a new four-year undergraduate curriculum from 2012.

Research Assistant Professor in the
Department of Earth Sciences

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Global Climate Change in the Department of Earth Sciences, from as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis under the Centenary Recruitment Plan.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree with good research skills and be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research excellence. The appointee is expected to commit high-quality scholarly research, submit grant proposals, publish in top-tier academic journals, and supervise postgraduate students. He/She may spend some time in teaching and coordinating fieldwork, and therefore should have good communication and organization skills. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical/dental benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
