The Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology invites applications as

Chemistry technician (m/f)

for the Laser-Ablation ICP-MS laboratory. The position will be available from 1 April 2017. The employment contract is initially limited to two years. The regular weekly working time will be 39 hours. The salary is based on the collective agreement TVöD-Bund. The place of work is Freiberg.


  • degree as chemistry technician (m/f) or comparable qualification with special emphasis on ICP-MS, ideally in combination with laser-ablation
  • excellent knowledge in the field of chemical analysis in particular with ICP-MS
  • experience in operation and application of laser-ablation-ICP-MS as well as evaluation and quality supervision of the obtained data
  • keen perception; team-oriented, independent work; openness for integration
  • knowledge in the operation of electron probe microanalysis is an advantage
  • good English and German language skills will be necessary


  • maintenance and operation of the laser-ablation-ICP-MS-laboratory of the HIF
  • assistance in the development and improvement of measurement methods for Laser-ablation-ICP-MS
  • independent support of internal and external users of the laboratory
  • handling of third-party assignments at the laser-ablation-ICP-MS
  • assist users with processing of data
  • execution of the regular maintenance of the instruments
  • co-supervision of users at the electron probe micro-analyzer
