Lecturer: £43,350 minimum p.a.
Senior Lecturer and Reader: £53,450 minimum p.a.
Professor: £68,170 minimum p.a.
Imperial College London is now inviting applications for two positions in Geology to be held in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering.
Two outstanding researchers are sought, in any area of earth sciences, and who also have an interest in contributing to active undergraduate degree programmes. Appointments will be made at the academic level appropriate to the candidate, while professorial candidates of the highest international standard may be awarded the H.H. Read Chair. The Department is one of the world's leading institutions in the teaching and research of Earth Sciences and Engineering.
The appointees will be expected to seek and obtain external research funding, attract and supervise high-quality PhD students, supervise research staff at Assistant and Associate level, publish papers in prestigious refereed journals and present research findings at international conferences. The appointee will be expected to interact with scientists and engineers from within the Department and other Departments at Imperial College London, as well as develop collaborations nationally and internationally.
The appointees could be currently at the Postdoctorate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader/Professor level or hold a senior, high profile position at an academic institution or industrial organisation.
Applicants will possess a doctorate in Geology or a related discipline, and substantial post-doctoral experience from a British University or its equivalent in another country, and a number of publications in refereed journals.
For appointment to Senior Lecturer, candidates must have a strong research record in Geology or aclosely related discipline. In addition, candidates will be expected to have experience in postgraduateteaching and undergraduate teaching in subjects within (or close to) the field of Geology, together with a track record of successful postgraduate student supervision.
For appointment to Reader, in addition to the above, candidates must have an exceptionally strong research record in Geology or a closely related discipline, and a proven track record of securing research funding. In addition, candidates appointed to Reader will be expected to have extensive experience in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching across a range of subjects within (or close to) the field of Geology, together with a track record of successful postgraduate student supervision and postdoctoral mentoring.
For appointment to the position of Chair, in addition to the above requirements candidates will be expected to have international leading research record and strong leadership qualities in areas which enhance and extend those of the Group.
Successful candidates will be expected to perform independent research, to contribute to the teaching of the undergraduate courses and administrative aspects of the Department.
