Job description:

We are looking for the candidate for the Head of Department of Geophysical Imaging. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in geophysics, physics, or related area. Candidates are expected to have excellent record in research, documented by high-profile publications, project leading and research management skills, as well as the established network of international collaborators. The successful candidate is expected to lead the research program of the Department with application of geophysical imaging techniques e.g. in geo-resources exploration, environmental / near-surface studies. We seek candidates whose research program complement existing strengths of the Department and the Institute e.g. in crustal structure, tectonics, seismology, polar research, hydrology.

Requirements for candidates:

  • Having at least a postdoctoral degree or the title of professor obtained in the field of exact and natural sciences in the discipline of Earth and environmental sciences and physics. For candidates who obtained their academic title abroad, at least a doctoral degree is required.
  • Excellent publication record in the field of Department's research area with focus on seismic data analysis / applied geophysics
  • Leadership / management experience in research organizations
  • Research funding acquisition experience
  • Principal Investigator experience in externally-funded projects
  • International reputation and collaboration network
  • Experience in Master / PhD student supervisorship
  • Fluency in English
  • Teaching experience is welcome
