Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Economic Geology Research Centre (EGRU)

We are now offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time and fixed term (to December 2023) appointment to the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow, located within the Economic Geology Research Centre (EGRU). The position will be based on the Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas (QLD, Australia), with remuneration at Academic Level A $68,350 - $91,332 per annum plus 17% employer contributions to UniSuper.

What you can accomplish in the Role

Joining a dynamic team of professionals within the Economic Geology Research Centre, you will: (i) undertake methodological development towards trace element and isotope geochemistry within the JCU IsoTropics Geochemistry Laboratory; (ii) undertake research within various projects focused on ore exploration and genesis of base metals and strategic/critical minerals, and on industrial interactions with the environment (e.g. contaminant assessment, monitoring); and (iii) contribute to the growing research profile of EGRU and JCU through the development of your own research agenda.

What you will bring to the Role

With a PhD qualification (or near completion) in Geology, Geochemistry, Chemistry or related fields, and as an effective communicator, you will work in collaboration with EGRU researchers, JCU staff and external partners to conduct research and contribute to research and publications, and contribute to the further growth and development of the IsoTropics Geochemistry Laboratory.

With an ambition to contribute to the growth of EGRU and to establish a strong research portfolio, you will focus on the development of trace element and isotope geochemistry laboratory methodologies within the JCU IsoTropics Geochemistry Lab.
