The Faculty of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Geosciences of the University of Mainz has an opening for a


Professor of Isotope Geochemistry


from 1st October 2011 or as soon as possible afterwards.

The ideal candidate will be based in the Institute of Geosciences and will have his/her research interests centred on geochemical aspects of geological processes at the Earth's surface and/or palaeoclimate, and teaching interests in geology and isotope geochemistry. An active interest and engagement in the University's "Geocycles" research centre (http://www.geocycles.de/eng/index.php) is expected. This promotes interdisciplinary activities and focuses on comparing Earth and climate processes with and without anthropogenic influence. Existing groups would benefit particularly from analytical research in ICP mass spectrometry and non-traditional stable isotope systems.

The successful candidate will have a PhD and a "Habilitation" or comparable scientific qualifications.
