The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Geosciences and Environmental Sciences invites applications for the position of a:

W3-Professorship for
Tectonics and Structural Geology
with technical applications in
Geothermics

The professorship is endowed by the EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. The professorship will be a main part of the planned interdisciplinary Institut für Tiefe Geothermie (Institute for Deep Geothermics). The focus is on research and development in the field of geothermics and the exploration and utilization of the subsurface.

The professor is expected to study exchange processes in natural and artificial hydrothermal systems and develop exploration concepts for geothermal reservoirs taking into account tectonic processes in the country rock. The research results shall contribute to sustainable and safe recovery of geothermal energy. Cooperation with the Institutes of the KIT-Centre “Energy” is expected.

Teaching should cover topics of near-surface and deep geothermic for courses in “Applied Geosciences”, “Civil Engineering”, and “Geophysics”.

The applicant shall have practical experience in geothermal projects or comparable fields. The applicant’s research on modelling the discovery, productiveness and long-term stability is expected to bring forward technical innovations. The ability for an interdisciplinary cooperation as well as the ability for the development of an active, nationally and internationally linked working team is expected.
