Post-doctoral Researcher in the area of Petroleum Structural Geology

King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences (CPG), Department of Geosciences invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the field of Applied Structural Geology, with an emphasis in petroleum systems, to begin as early as May 2022. We seek an outstanding individual to boost the Department's reputation for cutting-edge research.

The Department has 18 full-time faculty, three lecturers, four post-docs, three supporting staff, and approximately 66 undergraduate majors and 67 graduate students. Programs are enhanced through close collaboration with the Department of Petroleum Engineering within the College and with other departments on campus. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to conduct strong and vibrant research in the field of structural geology and tectonics in collaboration with group members, in addition to assisting with acquiring and calibrating new analytical and experimental instruments, training students in analytical methods, and conducting fieldwork.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree with an emphasis in structural geology. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success or potential for high-quality research and scholarship. Research interests should complement and support existing campus programs, and candidates linking their research in structural geology to the evolution, exploration, and development of hydrocarbon systems (conventional and/or unconventional) are desired. This includes knowledge of reservoir characterization techniques, knowledge of carbonate and organic-rich depositional systems (outcrop, core, and thin sections), knowledge of structural core logging and structural interpretation (using well data), and knowledge of fracture geochemical lab analyses. Applicants will be expected to have the ability to synthesize large datasets, have good speaking and writing knowledge of the English language, and have a good publication record.

Compensation: Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
