The PhD position (75%) limited for three years and the post-doctoral research position (100%) limited for one year at salary grade TV-L E13 are for the joint research project "Reaction kinetics in reservoir rocks: upscaling and modeling" within the BMBF program "Geoforschung für Nachhaltigkeit (GEO:N)"
The objective of the project is to predict changes in porosity and permeability of reservoir and cap rocks due to reactive transport processes by scale-independent models. The PhD candidate will perform diffusion and flow-through experiments with reservoir and cap rocks at the drill-core scale that determine changes in mineral and fluid composition as well as in porosity and permeability. Results will be analyzed with respect to reaction rates. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for the experimental setup with a flow-through autoclave and adaption of experimental techniques to match the project needs.
- PhD position: MSc in geology, mineralogy, earth sciences, environmental engineering, chemistry or a related field. The successful candidate must have a strong interest in experimental laboratory work and geochemical-mineralogical analysis; an appropriate background is desirable. Experiences in experimental laboratoty work and geochemical modeling are advantageous.
- Post-doctoral research position: PhD in a field related to geosciences, experimental physics or engineering; experiences in experimental design.
KIT is pursuing a gender equality policy and encourages women to apply. Furthermore, in case of equal qualification preference is given to applicants with disabilities.
Complete applications (including the following: 1) A short cover letter where you outline your motivation; 2) Curriculum vitae which describes your complete personal details and career history; 3) Complete course grades and transcripts; 4) Contact details of two referees or written reference letters) ) should be sent by e-mail (in one pdf-file) until 23.
