PhD Research Fellow (f/m/d) (75%)
The candidate will have the responsibility to conduct internationally visible research in the project "Energy and Material Flux in the Upper Rhine Graben: a systemic approach in describing the hydrothermal system of graben structures". Your responsibility will be literature research, field work, sampling and sample preparation (water and rocks), geochemical analysis in the field and in the lab, petrography, data interpretation and publishing of research results in internationally recognized journals. You will be given the opportunity to prepare a PhD thesis.
We have a strong team in hydrothermal ore deposits, geochemistry of geothermal systems and environmental mineralogy (http://www.agw.kit.edu/english/6319.php) and a partnership with researchers of the Helmholtz topic geothermal energy systems (http://www.ee.kit.edu/english/68.php). This project will be run in close collaboration with colleagues from other institutions and industry. This will give you an interesting and challenging environment, in which you have the chance to play a significant role.
You have an MSc degree (or equivalent) in geosciences with research interest in hydrothermal processes in the continental crust and a strong background in economic geology and geochemistry. You have some experience and strong interest in analytical geochemistry (EPMA, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, IC). You are motivated, open for new research fields and able to communicate with technicians, other researchers and industry.
