Professor of tectonophysics/geodynamics of the lithosphere



The Faculty of Geosciences and the Environment invites applications for a professorship in the area of tectonophysics/geodynamics of the lithosphere and its interactions with the environment, associated with the institute of Geology and Paleontology. Appointment to either a senior (full professor) or junior level (assistant professor with tenure track full professor) will be considered.

The successful candidate should have a strong earth science background and is expected to develop an externally-funded, internationally-recognized research program in the fields of tectonophysics and/or geodynamics of the lithosphere and its interactions with the earth's surface processes. All areas of research related to large-scale crustal deformation will be considered. Candidates with established records in one or more areas of large-scale tectonic structure, collision belts, plate tectonic reconstructions, neotectonics and other topics that relate crustal deformation to environmental change will be given preference. Experience in the Alps is of advantage.

The candidate is expected to have experience in field research. The candidate is expected to develop a vigorous research program, including the advising of Masters and PhD students, to obtain third party funding, and to collaborate with other faculty members, including those in earth sciences, geography and environmental sciences. Professors teach at the undergraduate and graduate level.
