Research Scientist Positions - Biological Oceanography or Aquatic BiogeosciencesThe Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University seeks applicants to fill Doherty Research Scientist positions in the fields of biological oceanography or aquatic biogeosciences. It is anticipated that one position will be filled at a senior level and one at a junior or mid-career level. Preference will be given to candidates in areas of phytoplankton physiology/ocean productivity, marine microbiology, and/or process-oriented molecular approaches to marine ecology. The ideal candidate will complement existing strengths at LDEO in fields such as climatic change and biogeochemistry. The successful candidates will have an opportunity to play influential roles in the ongoing development of the biological oceanography program at LDEO and its evolving collaborations with other research units at LDEO, the Earth Institute, the Columbia University Dept. of Microbiology, and the Columbia University Genome Center. The successful senior candidate will be expected to assume a leadership role within this group. Both positions will have access to partial salary support through the Doherty endowment. Minimum requirements for the positions are a Ph.D. in related fields, with appointment contingent upon scholarly credentials.
