The Nancy School of Geology (ENSG), FranceInvites applications for an Professorship in Petroleum GeosciencesThe Nancy School of Geology (ENSG) is currently seeking excellent candidates for a permanent Professorship in Petroleum Geosciences, to start in September 2012. The Nancy School of Geology is part of the University of Lorraine and is a French "grande école d'ingénieurs". The University of Lorraine represents the second largest centre of geoscience research in France with over 450 personnel and a research budget of over 15 million €. Founded over 100 years ago, the Nancy School of Geology produces over 120 Masters-level graduates each year in applied geosciences and engineering (http://www.ensg.inpl-nancy.fr/). Admission is through a highly competitive national examination ensuring that students are strong in quantitative sciences as well as geosciences. This prestigious School has developed strong partnerships with national and international industry in all fields of applied geosciences. Profile Candidates should have an outstanding research and teaching record in any field of petroleum geosciences including, but not limited to, basin analysis, stratigraphy, sedimentology, reservoir geology, geophysics, diagenesis or hydrocarbon maturation. The selected professor will join a team of 39 academic staff, and will take the responsibility for the petroleum geosciences specialty (MSc and engineering diploma levels). Teaching duties for a full Professor are 192 contact hours annually (including lectures, practicals and field camps). Experience in geological field training will be an advantage. The professor will be expected to participate in administrative tasks of the School. Teaching is in both English and French as many classes include international students. The professor will carry out his/her research in the future 'Georessources' research centre, which will regroup the current g2r laboratory (www.g2r.uhp-nancy.fr), the Gocad research group (www.gocad.org) and the geomechanics laboratory (http://laego.inpl-nancy.fr). He/she will take charge of the 'Hydrocarbon Resources 'research group and will be expected to develop and lead new research projects in his/her field.
