Assistant / post-doc position
Geochemistry of Surface Processes

The Institute of Geology at the Leibniz Universität Hannover invites applications for a 3-year (with possible 2 year extension) position at the assistant/post-doc level. We are looking for a person with a strong commitment to independent research and a solid background in applications of light stable isotopes to geological processes. Additional expertise in continental tectonics and its impact on surface processes would strengthen the profile of the candidate.

We expect the candidate to be actively involved in the development and application of stable isotope measurement techniques in the recently established stable isotope laboratory. Additional resources involve access to laser ablation MC-ICPMS and clean room facilities. This position offers the opportunity to integrate geochemical and geochronological analyses to address the chemical and physical processes of the long-term interactions at the lithosphere-atmosphere interface. The successful candidate will work within the research initiative on Earth Surface Processes at the Leibniz Universität Hannover but will also be integrated in national and international collaborative research efforts.

The candidate will have the opportunity to teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching in English is encouraged but teaching in German is expected after a reasonable period of time.

As an equal opportunity employer, the Leibniz Universität Hannover strongly encourages women to apply. Equally qualified disabled applicants will be given preference.

To ensure consideration, submit application by June 15, 2008. The search will continue until the position is filled.

Applications or inquiries about the position should be sent either by mail or electronically to:
