Lund University is Scandinavia’s largest institution for education and research in a large number of disciplines, such as engineering, natural sciences, law, social science, economics, medicine, theology and the arts. The University has over 39 000 students and approximately 5 500 employees located in Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg. We have a comprehensive global network and a growing co-operation within the Öresund University framework within Southern Sweden and Eastern Denmark. Lund University announces an opening for an Post-doctoral researcher in project Land use today and tomorrowReference no: 4534 Job description We seek a post-doctoral research fellow to model the dynamic interactions of land use/land cover change and ecosystem processes. The work contributes to the project Land Use Today and Tomorrow which aims to identify sustainable pathways for the use of land resources under a range of climate and socioeconomic scenarios. The researcher will be placed in the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystems Analysis, Lund University, Sweden. The researcher will take on responsibility for the development and testing of a coupled model system that links a parsimonious land use model with the dynamic global vegetation model framework LPJ-GUESS. A chief task will be to develop the coupled model for a formalised analysis of land use change in terms of parameter uncertainty based on conditional probabilistic futures. The project investigate the socioeconomic and environmental constraints on land use, specifically in the context of food-security vs. bioenergy production, applying the coupled economic-ecological modelling framework.
