The Department of Physical Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Earth and Planetary Sciences, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2019, subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will have a focus in geochemical or biogeochemical processes and systems. A preference will be given to those candidates whose teaching and research lies at the intersection between chemistry and earth science. The candidate must demonstrate excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in teaching in both lecture and laboratory settings. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver several courses per term at both the first-year and senior levels as part of the regular teaching load, contributing to our existing offerings in geochemistry and biogeochemistry which are taught as multidisciplinary EASC/CHEM crossed-listed courses, as well as developing new courses commensurate with their expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, student-focused research program within their field, and build a broad external research network. The ability to attract external funding, or clear promise thereof, is desirable. Comfort in a multidisciplinary department and a desire to undertake field teaching and research are also considered assets.

Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. in the geosciences or chemistry, or a related relevant area of expertise and will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and an ongoing research program.

This position is included under the Faculty Association collective agreement. The annual salary range for a Ph.D. is $66,788 to $108,110. (or: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience). A review of applications will begin February 1, 2019
