Two Post Doctoral Research Associates Positions

Applications are invited for two Postdoctoral Research Associates to join the North Africa Research Group in the following areas:

1. Basin Structure (Field and Subsurface) (EPS/219/06)

To undertake field-based structural research within North Africa. The successful candidate will have a strong research background in structural geology and stratigraphic studies. Initial research will focus on outcrop-based studies integrated with subsurface wireline log, core and seismic data supplied by the industry sponsors. The appointee will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Earth Sciences or a closely related discipline and should have experience of basin studies incorporating both structural and sedimentological analysis. Experience of using Petrel or similar reservoir modelling software, GIS systems and visualisation techniques, seismic interpretation and interpretation of typical oil field data. Would be an advantage.

2. Reservoir Sedimentology and Stratigraphic Studies (Field and Subsurface) (EPS/220/06)

To undertake field-based sedimentological research within North Africa. The successful candidate will have a strong research background in clastic or carbonate sedimentology and /or related stratigraphic studies. Initial research will focus on outcrop-based studies in Libya, Morocco and Algeria, integrated with subsurface wireline log, core and seismic data supplied by the industry sponsor. The appointee will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Earth Sciences or a closely related discipline and should have experience of basin studies incorporating sedimentological facies analysis. Experience of using Petrel or similar reservoir modelling software, GIS systems and visualisation techniques, seismic interpretation and interpretation of typical oil field data.
