Postdoctoral and Ph.D. positions

The University of Copenhagen Programme of Excellence in Planetary Sciences at the Natural History Museum of Denmark invites applications for postdoctoral and Ph.D. fellowships in the field of cosmochemistry. The main focus of the research programme is centered on elucidating the timescales and processes leading to the formation of the Solar System by measurement of isotopic variations in extraterrestrial materials.

We seek highly-motivated individuals with a strong background in isotope geochemistry, preferably with experience in mass spectrometry and clean laboratory techniques, to join a dynamic research group and take full advantage of the state-of-the-art isotope facilities that the institution offers to pursue innovative research. These include newly-established thermal-ionization and multiple-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (Thermo Scientific Triton and Neptune) as well as ultra-clean laboratories.

The postdoctoral positions are two-year appointments with a possibility for extension depending on performance, whereas the Ph.D. positions are fixed three-year appointments. The starting date of these positions is early to mid 2009.

Applicants should send application materials (resume, publication list, statement of research interests) and the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Martin Bizzarro (bizzarro@snm.ku.dk). Evaluation of applications will start February 1, 2009 and will continue until the positions are filled.
