The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) provides unique opportunities to the right people to work in challenging regional-scale geoscientific projects in a variety of geological terranes. NTGS is a modern, dynamic organisation with a high-tech approach to geoscience and data delivery, and a strong focus on supporting mineral and petroleum exploration. The positions offer the opportunity to undertake geology in spectacular landscapes and in some of Australia's most isolated regions. Furthermore, you'll be living in a unique environment that offers an unprecedented lifestyle and ample opportunity for advancement. BASEMENT GEOSCIENCE - PROJECT GEOLOGIST Professional 2 PN 10178 Ongoing, in Darwin/Alice Springs NTGS is looking for skilled, motivated and independent geoscientists to work within project teams in some of Australia's best geology, including the opportunity to work in either the Palaeoproterozoic Pine Creek Orogen located in spectacular and remote country in northeast Arnhem Land or the challenging polymetamorphic Arunta Region of central Australia. NTGS offers facilities for field-based mapping and follow-up research to understand the geological framework and prospectivity of project areas. This is a rare opportunity to do fundamental geoscientific work in terranes where, relative to other parts of Australia, there is still scope to make exciting new geological discoveries. We are seeking geoscientific skill sets relevant to structure and metamorphic petrology, particularly related to tectonically complex, high grade, basement terranes. Candidates with higher degrees are particularly encouraged to apply. For more information on working for NTGS and the upcoming projects, please visit www.geoscience.nt.gov.au/employment.
