Lecturer Above the Bar in Economic Geology

Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer Above the Bar in Economic Geology at NUI Galway.

The applicant should have expertise in the fundamental skills that underpin economic geoscience, such as mineralogy, geochemistry, petrology and/or structural geology. The successful applicant will be required to develop and lead teaching in undergraduate modules related to these subject areas, contribute to field training of students in Earth & Ocean Sciences and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects. The candidate will be expected to carry out research in areas related to economic geology such as energy critical elements, geothermal energy or magmatic systems. It is anticipated that they will attract competitive funding (exchequer and non-exchequer) and build national and international collaborations. The candidate will also help develop and expand teaching/research synergies with the other constituent disciplines of the School of Natural Sciences and the College of Science and Engineering.

Salary: €68,104 to €88,578 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
(This appointment will be made on the lecturer above the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)
