We are seeking a PDRA to study past seawater oxygenation levels as part of the NERC-funded project 'RESPIRE' (Response of global ocean oxygenation to early Cenozoic climate extremes). You will join a multidisciplinary collaborative research team and will work with an international network of project partners. The data generated by this research will greatly improve our mechanistic understanding of the climatic controls on seawater oxygenation, both past and present, and will provide a solid basis for the inclusion of global environmental change in model predictions of seawater oxygenation. The work will also contribute to the final phase of the European sustainability modelling project ERMITAGE.
You will hold a PhD, or be near completion in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. mathematical, physical or environmental science) with a background in the Earth, Environmental or Climate sciences. You must have substantial experience of numerical modelling techniques, with well-developed self-management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
Closing date: 02 April 2013. Interview date is to be advised.
