Environmental Geophysicist(ED/017/09) Orkney College wishes to appoint an Environmental Geophysicist to join the Geophysics Unit based at Orkney College. Located in one of the most archaeologically significant parts of Britain, the Unit is housed within the Archaeology Department of Orkney College, a partner in the UHI Millennium Institute. These are key appointments to drive forward the geophysics unit, based in Orkney, which can be deployed anywhere in the Highlands and Islands and beyond. This is a significant development that is seen as a part of the developing research capabilities of UHIMI. The Unit is already equipped with state of the art equipment and operates across the Highlands and Islands Region undertaking archaeological geophysics and wishes to expand into environmental site investigation. The Geophysics Unit, equipped with state of the art equipment and based in Orkney, operates across the Highlands and Islands. The primary focus of the Unit is archaeological geophysics teaching, research and commercial survey but the Unit also undertakes non-archaeological investigations. The Unit is also due to start delivering an MSc in Shallow Geophysics. The salary for the Environmental Geophysicist will be in the range £26,205 - £34,134.
