University lecturer in Economic GeologyJob Description and Required Qualifications The Department of Geosciences invites applications for a University lecturer in Economic Geology. The appointment will start on September 1st, 2012 and is initially for a 5-year period. Based on performance, the position is tenurable. Northern Finland constitutes one of Europe's most mineralized terrains, including Europe's largest gold mine, world-class Cr and Ni-Cu deposits, and large VMS, PGE, and IOCG deposits. For the present post, examples of desirable research expertise include hydrothermal mineral deposits, gold deposits, VMS deposits, structural geology, metamorphic petrology, field geology, and GIS applications. Candidates must have a PhD in Earth Sciences, teaching experience, ability to establish an externally funded research program, supervise postgraduate students, and contribute to an international Masters course in Economic Geology. Teaching is in English, and excellent knowledge of English is therefore required. The salary is based on the university salary system and is determined according to the competence of the candidate. The annual salary of the university lecturer is upto 50 000 Euros. Additionally, the university lecturer is entitled to health care benefits.
