University Lecturer in Geology
The Department of Earth Sciences proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Geology with effect from 1 January 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter. This position builds on the department's research strengths in: tectonics, volcanology, and natural hazards; origins and evolution of planets; palaeobiology and the fossil record; and environment, oceans, and climate. We are seeking a scientist for whom field observations represent an important component of their research; areas of interest include, but are not restricted to, petrology, sedimentology, stratigraphy and tectonics. The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD in Geology or a related discipline. They will have a strong research record, and will be expected to develop a vigorous research programme at an international level, and to be an effective teacher of undergraduates.
The successful candidate will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship by St Edmund Hall, under arrangements described in the further particulars. The combined University and College salary will be on a scale up to £56,917 per annum.
