Publications OfficerThe Palaeontological Association wishes to appoint a Publications Officer to play a major role in the delivery of its publications portfolio, principally, in the first instance, the journals Palaeontology and Special Papers in Palaeontology. The Publications Officer will, under the direction of the Editor-in-Chief, oversee the practical aspects involved in the publication process, including where appropriate liaising with authors, scientific editors and the publisher, and be proactively involved in further development of the Association's portfolio of publications. Excellent written and spoken English and extensive experience in modern publication practice (in particular on-line and electronic publishing) are pre-requisites; a background in science, especially palaeobiology, would be useful. This is a part-time position (c.30 hours per week); some flexibility, including the capacity to take on other commitments to be arranged as necessary, is expected. Salary will be commensurate with experience, within the range of £28,000-£30,000 per annum. Informal enquiries can be directed to the Chair of the Publications Board (Dr Patrick Orr: patrick.orr@ucd.ie). Applications comprising a CV and a covering letter summarising relevant expertise should be e-mailed as a pdf attachment to the Secretary of the Palaeontological Association (Prof. Richard Twitchett, secretary@palass.org) by Friday 12th April. Interviews will be held on Monday 22nd April and Tuesday 23rd April in the UK. |
