Research Associate in Crustal Evolution

2-year contract

At Portsmouth we are investing and developing our research within the Crustal Evolution research group. We are seeking an independent and motivated researcher with appropriate analytical experience. We have a newly established laser ablation ICP-MS lab and we are establishing a full mineral separation facility. In addition, we have full access to an SEM with newly acquired EDS within the Faculty. We are particularly interested in the novel use of accessory minerals to resolve large-scale problems within the area of crustal evolution. We have a number of high-quality research projects on offer and would also be open to discuss further ideas.

Potential projects include:

  • Archaean Crustal Growth - The Sanukitoid-high Ba/Sr granite connection
  • Mountains to Mud - The role of erosion within orogens and its bias on the detrital record Crustal Growth in Different Tectonic Settings - The role of arcs, back-arcs and plumes in generating growth of crust

You will work closely with members of the group and our PhD students and collaborators in a collegial and dynamic atmosphere. You will be responsible for analysis, data reduction and presentation of results in leading international journals and at international conferences.
