Starting Salary is £42,126 - £49,856 per annum inclusive of London Allowance 1*

*This is the expected starting salary for this post however appointment at a higher point may be made for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience relevant to the role.

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in the Department of Earth Sciences, Royal Holloway University of London, to commence no later than 2 January 2019.

The Department of Earth Sciences is ranked in the top ten of UK geoscience departments for both research and student experience and hosts high quality research and teaching labs/facilities. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding geoscientist with PhD qualification who will contribute to research, teaching and administration in the Department of Earth Sciences.

The Department of Earth Sciences is inviting applicants with strong research record in Geodynamics and Tectonics and relevant modelling techniques, who will complement and strengthen our existing research groups and support our field-intensive degree programmes.

The successful candidate will:

  • pursue research of international quality that enhances, complements and/or extends the current research activities of our Earth Sciences Department at Royal Holloway.
  • develop academic leadership in their field of expertise and contribute to the development of departmental research groups and collaborative research projects.
  • establish an externally-funded research programme and will generate REF 4* research output, impactful research and contribute to our knowledge exchange activities.
  • deliver and develop high-quality and effective classroom, on-line and field-based teaching at undergraduate and MSc level.

This is a full-time and permanent post and the successful candidate should be in post on 2 January 2019 ready for teaching in the spring term 2018/19 academic year.
