Essential Job Functions We are looking for a highly skilled scientist at the Masters or Ph.D. level to build the next generation probabilistic flood model in the US. This model will be used to accurately assess the level of risk from inland fluvial flooding events. You need to be familiar with at least one high level programming language and know how to work with large data sets. You know how to build base data layers for flood models (DTM, river networks) with the help of GRASS, C, Fortran, Python and Linux scripting. You also understand hydrological/hydraulic models well and can run these on a distributed computing cluster. You have good problem-solving and communication abilities and like to work in a project oriented environment. You must be detail oriented and have the ability to learn fast.
