Please visit our website at www.sandia.gov. We are searching for Post Docs in Geochemical for the Radiological Consequence Management and Response Department at the Albuquerque facility. The salary is $80,000 per year. A benefit and relocation package is available. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.

This position consists of work in multi-disciplinary, technical teams. Team members comprise a diversity of technical fields, including engineering, geology, geochemistry, hydrology, structural mechanics, chemistry, material sciences and performance assessment. Tasks include development and implementation of appropriate laboratory experiments, data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and management of applicable Quality Assurance procedures and documentation.

A PhD in chemistry or geochemistry with a solid, demonstrable background in material (or mineral) synthesis, characterization and water-solid interactions is required. The work will involve the synthesis of nanostructred material through sol-gel processes and the testing of the synthesized materials for their specific performance in aqueous environments. Both experimental and modeling expertise is preferred. Additional knowledge and experience with molecular modeling and spectroscopic interpretation is a plus.
