Ph.D Position

Project: Uranium and associated minerals in the Sultanate of Oman - Geophysical and geochemical exploration



Applications are invited from Master students of Geophysics from a recognized University/higher education institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or equivalent in the Master program to pursue Ph.D. in Earth Sciences. Additional academic qualifications with suitable experience in the field of study may have relaxation in GPA subject to the approval by University. It is also required that the eligible candidate should have qualified TOFEL/IELTS results or is able to illustrate English proficiency. The successful candidate will work in the interdisciplinary research area of Uranium exploration. Experience in geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretation is desirable. The selected student is entitled to a tax free monthly fellowship of OR 650 (approximately US$ 1675) plus medical/health care and an annual economy return air ticket. Ph.D. fees will be paid from the project grant. Preference will be given to an Omani National in the case of equal qualification of an outside applicant.

Duration of Fellowship: 2 + 1 years
Fellowship Commences: Fall 2013
