Stallard Scientific Editing (https://www.stallardediting.com) is seeking a full-time Managing Editor, working from home or at our office in Nelson, New Zealand. Country of residence is not important because all files are transferred via the Internet.
The primary roles of the position are (i) editing of scientific manuscripts, (ii) quality control editing, and (iii) liaising with clients, editing staff, and administration staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business. There is potential to be involved in business growth, systems development, and staff employment.
The editing component involves editing scientific manuscripts (written by non-native speakers) for consistency, correct grammar, correct use of English, and readability, without altering the scientific content or changing the author's meaning.
You will have a broad knowledge of geology, a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., seismology, tectonics, structural geology, regional geology, economic geology, igneous and metamorphic geology), an excellent command of written scientific English, knowledge of the steps involved in publishing a paper in a scientific journal, and an eye for detail.
The benefits include a flexible daily schedule, working from home, involvement in a leading geology editing business, assisting researchers worldwide, and playing a key role in the research community. Salary negotiable.
