STOCKHOLM UNIVERSITY
Department of Geology and Geochemistry (IGG) 3 Permanent Lectureships in the Department of Geology & GeochemistryApplications are invited for three permanent lectureships in the Department of Geology & Geochemistry, Stockholm University, Sweden: two in the broad fields of ore geology and neotectonics within the Geology group and one in organic isotope geochemistry within the Geochemistry group. The department includes 14 permanent academic staff, 13 support personnel and 30 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers focused on research and teaching encompassing Geology, Geochemistry and Marine Geoscience. Ore geology. We seek applicants with proven expertise in the study of ores and ore formation. This includes investigating the petrological, tectonic, and fluid-related processes governing the formation and occurrence of ores (position ref. nr. SU 612-2938-09; http://www.su.se/pub/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=11535&a=72902). Neotectonics. We seek applicants with proven expertise applying structural geology to the study of modern tectonics processes. This may be related to, for example, investigating fault dynamics, earthquakes and/or volcanism (position ref. no. SU 612-2939-09; http://www.su.se/pub/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=11535&a=73091). Organic Isotope Geochemist. We seek applicants with proven expertise in applying stable isotope analysis of organic molecules and molecular structure analysis in studies in organic geochemistry in, for example, studies of biomarkers, degradation of organic materials and sources of organic molecules (position ref. no. SU 612-2940-09; http://www.su.se/pub/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=11535&a=73105). All positions will involve teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants will be assessed on their scientific and pedagogic merits as well as the ability to attract external funding and to engage actively in onsite-, distance- and field-based teaching. The Geology and Geochemistry groups are small but expanding research groups all members of which demonstrate a willingness to perform collaborative research and education in such areas as igneous petrology, deformation and fluid flow and all areas of geochemistry Please visit our web site (www.geo.su.se) to learn more about the department and the resources available to potential applicants. Guidelines to be followed in the application are provided in the Template for application for employment and for promotion to the rank of professor or senior lecturer at Stockholm University, at www.su.se/nyanstallning. Further information about the positions can be obtained from Professor Alasdair Skelton (alasdair.skelton@geo.su.se). Send your application quoting the position reference number no later than March 31, 2010 to: Stockholm University |
