Being one of the leading universities in the People's Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary university, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, medical sciences, pharmacology, and management sciences. Founded in 1924, department of Earth Sciences of Sun Yat-sen university is one of the oldest departments of china. The Department has 32 full-time faculty members, 18 staff and numerous associates. The research of the faculty and student spans many areas of earth science including mineralogy, petrology and ore deposit geology, neotectonics, structural geology and tectonics, geochemistry. Currently, the Department has 120 graduate students, 400 undergraduate students.

The department of earth science of SYSU seeks applications for multiple faculty positions in the broad fields of geology, geophysics, Engineering Geology, remote sensoring and GIS. Candidates will have completed a PhD study in a relevant field, have a strong publication record. Successful applicants are expected to teach pertinent courses at the Bachelor and Master level in English or Chinese.
